Not entirely true! Pushkar mainly attracts two kinds of visitors. Hindu pilgrims (the place holds great significance according to Hindu mythology and is famed for having the only Brahma temple in the world) and people who are looking for a chilled out break! The first kind normally visit Pushkar for about half a day as part of some tour package. The second type lingers on….
Yes, the bazaars are crowded, but are colorful, happy places. Take a break from looking through ethnic jewellery, rajasthani handicrafts and hippie bags (all available at great bargains) to eat delicious malpuas (an Indian sweet..something like fritters) & other Rajasthani food!
The Pushkar Lake used to come alive in the evenings, there would be folk singers and musicians who played while the sun set. The lake is also dotted with temples, which would be beautifully lit up! I read recently, that the lake had gone dry because of a Rs 50 cr government project to clean it up and make it deeper (could only happen in India

) so im not too sure what its like now…but I have some great memories of the place. don't go to Pushkar with a set agenda and im sure ull have a good trip!
